If you love Japanese games, anime and manga, are a freelance iOS and Android programmer/developer with skills and want to put your talent to work in a project with proven traction and serious potential, Kana Ninja wants to hear from you! Please get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org
My name is Luis Alis and I am spearheading the Kana Ninja project. I have been professionally involved in the Japanese manga, anime and games industry for more than 20 years, including a 7 year stint as Localization Producer at Bandai Namco Games in London and Tokyo. I started operating my games and entertainment localization company Nagareboshi (www.nagareboshi.es) in 2010 and last year I decided to diversify our activities and start Kana Ninja, a game development project slated to appear under the new label Nagareboshi Kaihatsu.
We have working on and off on Kana Ninja in its prototype form for a year now. Almost 400 testers had a go at the prototype in two of the largest manga and anime conventions in Spain (Salò del Manga de Barcelona 2013 and Salón del Manga de Alicante 2014) and the reception has been overwhelmingly positive. The potential for a great product is there and as a localization firm making its debut as a game developer, we are going to push the product globally via a 12+ language localization support for Kana Ninja.
The game is defined as a "Japanese language learning action game" and we are aiming at a target audience of anime, manga, cosplay, J-Pop and Japanese popular culture fans who have an interest in Japanese language but don't have time for textbooks or sitting in the classroom. The most important thing for us is that players like our game mechanic, so we're conceiving the development of Kana Ninja as an investment for more action games based on learning languages expressed with different symbols and alphabets other than the Roman alphabet, such as Russian or Korean. One of our requisites for our Lead Programmer would be to conceive the code in a modular way to be easily modifiable so that the main mechanics of the game can be reused for further products with little additional work.
This is a start-up debut project so we are looking for programmers willing to get involved with us on a working partnership basis. The remuneration of the project will come as a share of the benefits of the sale of the game. We are based in Spain but we are happy to work with anybody no matter his or her geographical location as long as we can get in touch often via Skype or phone.
